my work is grounded in the experience of finding spaces of expansiveness and reprieve afforded by the internet where there were few in the physical world. but, as someone who later got to live in and be shaped by communities in the pacific northwest, new york, and san francisco after leaving southern california for school, i recognize the irreplacability, inescapability of our physical realities and infrastructures.

my engineering career informs my writing and research practice, giving me the chance to witness and participate in how we construct machines after our collective and individual self-perceptions and dreams (whether of liberation or domination), the sociology of the software industry, venture capital ecosystem, and innovation economy at large. i see the duality, liminality of queerness, being of the asian / chinese diasporas, learning from their futurisms and many others, recognizing how identity is transformed in the presence of community, as answers to the calls for domination, and guides to more peaceful and joyful realities.

most recently, i helped 👁👄👁, a collective of student / new grad / early-career tech workers , raise over $200,000 from venture capitalists and other members of the industry by subverting prestige-generating tactics like exclusive product waiting lists and the industry's fascination with youth consumer trends. this was covered by business insider, forbes, the verge, fortune, wired, among others.

my work in building subtle asian dating, the second largest digital space for the asian diaspora (600k+ members), was recognized by slate, the new york times, among others.

as a journalist, i've written for the los angeles times, and my reporting and editing for the daily evergreen were recognized nationally by the society of professional journalists.
